Secondary Trauma Training
Training courses for all of those working and caring for vulnerable children and young people
In the social care world , there is a close connection between the vulnerable child and the workers directly working with abused and neglected children. This relationship can expose workers and carers to the distress and pain experienced by the abused and neglected child, yet the relationship is strengthened through the empathy and a desire to alleviate the emotional pain and suffering for young people. Living with, working with and caring for children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, and abuse can impact negatively on the individuals doing this work and in worst cases can lead to secondary trauma, compassion fatigue and ultimately burnout.
This course explores what the risks are, how risks can be identified, managed and can be effectively dealt with.
